WooCommerce To Shopify Migration Support


The story

Elsa's Organic Skinfoods is small UK brand that is taking a stand against harmful products that line the shelves of our supermarkets specifically in deodorants oral care. Their old website was built on WooCommerce, was hard to navigate for customers & the client and lacked the range of app functionality that Shopify provides. We collaborated with another UK based agency to provide consultation and support with the website migration to Shopify.

Project overview

We were tasked to basically freshen up the website after it was initially built by the first agency. This involved improving the design, ensuring the site looked amazing on mobile devices and setting up crucial apps to help the store get up and running. We were also of use with helping setting up the Shopify backend store settings itself and the use of tags/collections with creating new products.

What we did

The product page is a significant part of any eCommerce store so we spent time designing new components to add to it instead of the generic main product and then product recommendations. Trust badges, further explanation of the product and FAQs were put in place to tackle any customer doubts about the natural deodorants.

This brand has 3-5 main category of products and certain sections/components we had on product pages we're relevant to all the product pages. To solve this problem we created alternate product template pages for those group of products. This allowed us to add/remove sections like GIFs that were irrelevant to certain products and have dynamic FAQs section for each type of product customers viewed.

We also helped Elsa's team get started with Klaviyo and basic email marketing. We created a beautiful popup using Klaviyo which prompted new customers to enter their email in return for a 10% discount code. To ensure this popup wasn't intrusive/annoying (like most other stores) we configured it to only show to customers who were on a /product URL for X seconds so we know they are interested.

The results

The refresh of the site was completed within a week. There was a smooth transition between the old website and the launch of the new site.

All the apps installed worked perfectly and met all the end client requirements. Elsa's team were thankful to have us on board and for assisting on the project too.
